Advanced Design of Experiments: General Full Factorial Designs Dialog

SigmaXL > Design of Experiments > Advanced Design of Experiments: General Full Factorial > General Full Factorial Designs

Histogram Options
  • Number of Categorical Factors - select 1 to 10 categorical factors. Modify Factor Names and Level Settings (Categorical) as needed. Name is text , No. Levels can be 2 to 10, Level Values are text. The categorical factor coding scheme is (-1,0,1). Pseudo Center Points are not permitted since there are no Continuous Factors.

  • Number of Replicates - select 1 to 10 Design Power Information with power to detect an effect size of 0.5*StDev to 3.0*StDev will be updated with selection.

  • Block on Replicates - check to Block on Replicates.

  • Tip: Use 1 Categorical Factor with Replicates and Block on Replicates to create a Randomized Complete Block Design. See Example 3: Using General Full Factorial to Create a Randomized Complete Block Design.

  • Design Power Information - Terms in Model - select from All Main Effects, ME + 2-Way Interactions, ME + 3-Way Interactions, ME + All Interactions:

    • Error degrees of freedom (df) = #Total Runs - #Specified Terms in Model - 1 .

    • If Include Blocks in Mode are checked, Error df is adjusted.

    • If Error df is 0, an error message is given.

    • If the specified number of terms exceeds the maximum permitted, only the maximum will be used.

    • For formula details, see the Appendix: General Full Factorial - Power Calculations

  • Design Power Information - Significance Level - enter alpha value, default is 0.05.

  • Randomize Runs check to randomize runs with Seed (Base) as either Clock or specified Value. The latter will randomize the runs but always in the same random order for the same seed value. If unchecked, runs are in given in standard order.

  • Number of Responses specify number of responses and enter Response Name.

  • Tip: Analysis of a General Full Factorial is done using SigmaXL > Design of Experiments > Advanced Design of Experiments: General Full Factorial > Analyze General Full Factorial Design, but additional graphical and statistical tools are available by analyzing the experiment using General Linear Mode (SigmaXL > Statistical Tools > General Linear Model > Fit General Linear Model). These include Confidence Intervals on Main Effects Plots, Pairwise Comparison of Means for Fixed Factors (Tukey or Fisher Test), and the ability to treat a Block Factor as Random to produce a Variance Components report.
