Use this template to compute Gage R&R metrics from the Variance Components of General Linear Model (GLM) when the model includes a Part*Operator interaction term.

NOTES

  1. Use this template to compute Gage R&R metrics from the Variance Components of a General Linear Model (GLM) when the model includes a Part*Operator interaction term.
  2. Perform Gage R&R (Crossed) Study. Use GLM to obtain Variance Components (SigmaXL > Statistical Tools >General Linear Model > Fit General Linear Model).
  3. Copy the Variance Component values from Sheet GLM1 – VarComp and paste the values into the yellow highlighted cells C15:C18 of this template.
  4. Warning: It is crucial to ensure that the GLM Variance Components Source Names match those given in the template.
  5. The default Standard Deviation Multiplier is 6. Change this to 5.15 if AIAG convention is being used.
  6. Optionally enter a value for Process Tolerance (USL - LSL). This will be used to compute % Tolerance.
  7. Optionally enter a value for Historical Process Standard Deviation. This will be used to compute % Process (Historical StDev).
  8. The cells shaded in light blue highlight the Gage R&R Metrics: % Total Variation (also known as %R&R), %Tolerance, % Process and NDC.
  9. For Gage R&R Metrics: < 10% = Good Measurement System; > 30% = Bad Measurement System; NDC should be >= 5.
