Creating a Screen Capture

How can I take a picture of my screen?


Taking screen captures, or screenshots, is a very helpful way of sending exactly what you see on your screen.

When submitting requests for Technical Support, screen captures are greatly appreciated.

For Windows PC Users: 

To take a screen shot using a Microsoft Keyboard, find the "Print Screen" button.

On Desktop Keyboards it may look like this:

On Laptop Keyboards it may look like this:

After you have pressed the Print Screen button on your keyboard, you will have to open your Paint program.

Paint can be found from the Start Menu, by clicking the Start button, then going to Accessories, and clicking Paint.


Once you have opened your paint program, press Ctrl+V to paste the screen image into an empty image file.

Save the image file and send it as an attachment with your support request message or ticket.

For Mac OS X
Users:


1. Press Command+Shift+4.


2. You will be presented with a cross-hair which you can then click+drag to select the area you want a screenshot of.

3. When you release the mouse button your screenshot will be saved to your desktop.

Please note that you can also press Command+Shift+3 to capture a screenshot of your whole screen.
